About Us
Farming is the history and foundation of our Nation. No farmers, no food. We are Buck and Kelcy Hodges. A husband and wife that both grew up in families who farmed, ranched and rodeoed. In 2024, we decided to open our homestead up by building a small road front Farm-Stand to provide goods we make and grow to our neighbors. We had been growing and canning our own produce, as well as raising our own meat for about three years. Buck built the stand himself and we started very small, with some jam and eggs offered daily in front of our house. It was about four months before sourdough was perfected and offered. That is when things took off. Although my nickname growing up was Betty Crocker because I loved to bake, I have never claimed to be very good at it. In fact, even today I wouldn’t admit to being very good at it. The truth is I am terrible at following and replicating recipes… just ask my husband! Social Media is a wild thing, and helped our business grow tremendously during the time our stand was open. Our Farm-Stand allowed me to leave a successful career and stay home to raise our kids. That was our dream, and I felt called to be home. The second half of that dream is seeing a healthier and more educated community. Inspiring others to take control of what they consume. To be invested in what they are eating and drinking, like asking what the ingredients are and knowing where products come from. This supports local farmers like us too because not everyone has the time or interest in making their own food, but hopefully we have sparked interest in people to shop locally.
We knew we were being called to start something here, and landed on the name and idea of Grazing Grace (which sounds like Amazing Grace). GRAZING is what all our animals do for the benefit of their health and happiness, and for the natural ecosystem it creates in the soil of our land. Grazing is what I do constantly as I create, cook, taste and snack… and the products I intend to bring others for “grazing” at parties, events and homes straight from our farm to your table. GRACE, for myself specifically, has been an accepted gift and acquired tool through daily practice. We firmly believe in God’s saving grace. And I also believe in a sort of space-creating grace which I feel women need to provide more of for themselves. The grace that says “what I am doing is important,” in a culture that no longer prioritizes women being home. We have a dream that Grazing Grayce Lane will bless our family, our community and beyond insurmountably. Grayce (with a “Y”) and Lane are family names so there is a bit of play on words with the spelling and using Lane instead of Homestead even though that is what we are.
We have dual-purpose chickens, ducks, and quail for meat and eggs. We have Nigerian Dwarf goats for milk production. We keep bees for crop pollination and harvest their honey once per year. We have a Duroc/Berkshire/Hampshire hogs that we breed and raise for meat. We have a very special Guernsey/Jersey cross heifer for milk production. Our raised garden beds are a small start to the larger garden we have planned, but plenty of space for growing the herbs we dry and use, as well as some vegetables for our family. Our sourdough starter is 110-years old and we bulk ferment at length for optimal gut health. Our goal is to have a completely soy, corn, and GMO free farm in 2026. It is a very expensive and time consuming goal, but we prioritize the benefits from doing so and feel there is a need for those options in our community.
We are continually educating ourselves on old practices of agriculture, care for the land, and organic systems. We want to make food whole again, “Make America Healthy Again”, make milk raw again, and we want to bring it from our farm to your table. We do not grow or sell on a large scale, this is primarily for our family and excess is provided to our neighbors and community through our self-service honor system farm stand. We do all of this on 3 little acres and you can too! It is never too late to start. Ask us where to begin!
A 2026 update: We feel as though we have drifted from our vision of providing whole food and inspiring others to invest in their health and learn ancient skills, and have instead fallen into the hustle of serving sweets on the Farm stand and competing with others or hunting the next best recipe. We are immensely proud of the success we had during the time we were open but will utilize the stand differently moving forward.
We may offer a full menu of sourdough and baked goods during holidays or special occasions. The focus will shift to Farm School, where we can engage young minds and contribute to future farmers. We plan to provide learning opportunities for all ages that empower you to grow your own food, learn farming, animal husbandry, and kitchen skills.
